Relying On Network Protocol For Administration Tasks

Network load testing software is a highly flexible, powerful, and integrated set of LAN administration software. It inventories system hardware, schedules automatic execution of DOS and Windows program, logs network and application events, tracks software usage, monitors disk storage, audits file access, and integrates text from system logs and utilities.

With its ability to integrate data from its own modules as well as data collected from other utilities, Network Monitor Software lets you effectively manage all aspects of a LAN from a single Window-based workstation. Network Monitor Software will save hundreds of hours (and dollars) in administration time.

Managing and administering a local area network often seems more of an art than a science. Fortunately, network management, with its focus on the operational state and overall reliability of the network, has improved in recent years. LAN administration, on the other hand, has received less attention from manufacturers and LAN managers alike in terms of its importance to the overall success of a LAN installation.

LAN administration focuses on operational issues that affect a user's ability to realize productivity gains from the network. LAN administrators often are responsible for adding user logins, performing system backups, installing software and hardware, establishing network security, training users, creating menus and batch routines, archiving and deleting unneeded programs and data, reacting custom applications and reports, maintaining software licenses, purchasing equipment and additional services...the list goes on.

As the LAN grows, many administrators have less time to support users because they must spend more time on routine housekeeping functions just to ensure users have a basic level of service. Most administrators rely on a handful of disjointed tools and a large dose of chutzpah to help them stay on top of it all. Saber Software Corp. is one of a few companies to recognize the importance of LAN administration to the overall effectiveness of networked systems and has developed a highly flexible and powerful set of tools in its Network Monitor Software Starter Kit. Network Monitor Software can take the drudgery our of routine matters and free the administrator from tedious jobs, such as collecting hardware inventory. In addition, Network Monitor Software can provide valuable information about what the users are doing on the LAN, identify trouble spots in LAN operations, and assist with producing network documentation.

The Network Monitor Software Starter Kit consists of two components that form a foundation for a comprehensive network administration system: the Network Monitor Software Agent Toolkit and the Network Monitor Software Console/RT (Real Time).

The Agent Toolkit has six agents that collect information from workstations and network services. Agents are small DOS, Windows, or TSR programs that generally run on workstations and are executed by users as they go about their routine work on the LAN. Two agents, the file agent and the scheduling agent, are operated by the system administrator.
