Network Analysis Software Plays A More Major Role
Public transportation systems play a key role in today's crowded world because they move masses of people from one place to another with maximum efficiency and minimum costs. So too, a network is supposed to move data across a network in much the same way as rapid transit systems.
To increase the efficiency of data traveling over a wide-range network (WAN), Process Software Corporation offers network testing methodology that provides data compression services for TCP/IP networks in order to reduce WAN operating costs and improve performance. Any type of TCP data can be compressed without restriction. Maximum compression is achieved when sending ASCII text, while sending binary data realizes the least data compression.
Network Analysis Software reduces the number of packets required to transmit a given amount of data by compressing the data before it's delivered to the TCP layer, where it's then put into packets. Operating transparently, it permits client-server applications to exchange information by sending only compressed data over the WAN. TCP/IP headers remain in the same format, allowing it to work with previously installed bridges and routers. Each package includes a software license for installation on one computer. Currently, network compression products are available for AIX, HP-UX, SunOS, VAX/Ultrix, RISC/Ultrix and VMS platforms.
The Network Analysis Software requires up to 800KB of space for UNIX platforms and approximately 1,000 free blocks for VMS platforms. A TCP/IP networking product must also be operational on each Network Analysis Software host. TCP/IP was provided with our UNIX distributions. The software installation scripts on all three systems were complete and easy to follow. VMS platforms use VMSINSTAL, while UNIX platforms require a little more effort from the installer, including a system reboot. The installation took approximately 15 minutes for each host. The Network Analysis Software components consist of a pact switch driver, a compression process and a management utility. All these components were installed on each host. The packet switch driver is a device driver that doesn't control any hardware. Providing end-to-end data compression services, the compression process is the main component. The management utility is provided to configure parameters, manage the compression process on local and remote hosts, and display statistics. When Network Analysis Software starts, it reads the configuration parameters stored in the configuration file. More than one configuration file can be created and used by identifying the file name on the comman line when starting Network Analysis Software. The first time Network Analysis Software is used, the software password, which is specific to the hardware, operating system and company, must be entered. During installation, a hardware and system ID is provided. Process Software uses these IDs to create a software password for each system. In today's complex and crowded world of data processing, running Network Analysis Software helps move the masses of data traveling over your WAN with maximum efficiency and minimum costs.
